Bucs' RB LeGarrette Blount Wins Weekly Rookie Offensive Award

DT Nda Suh of the Lions wins this week’s Draft Insiders’ rookie award after being a difference maker in the Detroit victory over the Redskins. Suh registered two sacks, four tackles, including two tackles for loss, and put an exclamation point on the victory with a 17-yard fumble return for a touchdown with 1:36 to play that gave the Lions a 37-25 win over the Redskins. The victory was the 2nd of the season, matching their total wins from last season.
Suh has set the pace for the Lions young defense that has begun to make a statement weekly this fall. He has not only made many big plays but has occupied two blockers and been disruptive consistently along the Detroit front four. He has totaled 7 sacks as a rookie despite the weekly special attention received by offensive coordinators. This is the third time he was won Draft Insiders’ Defensive Rookie Award and we are only at the halfway mark for the 2010 season.
Running back LeGarrette Blount of the Bucs had an outstanding performance that earned him the offensive nomination as he rushed for 120 total yards on 22 carries and 2 TDs. His efforts were instrumental in the Bucs 38-35 victory over the Cardinals. He won out over teammate wideout Mike Williams who had another strong performance. He totaled 105 yards receiving on 4 receptions including a 47 yard TD that tied the score in the 2nd quarter. The strong rookie class has been instrumental in the dramatic turnaround by the 5-2 Bucs.
