How about Those Cowboys!!
Giants face Packers in NFC title clash

The NY Giants won one of the most exciting NFL playoff games in recent history with a hard fought victory over the Dallas Cowboys. It was the G Men’s 9th straight road win including the last two weeks with playoff victories that puts them in the NFC Championship game vs the Green Bay Packers. The Giants’ maligned young passer Eli Manning had his third straight impressive game with a QB rating over 100. He threw two TD passes to wily veteran receiver Amani Toomer that was instrumental in the critical win. Manning has not made a turnover in either playoff victory, directing a balanced offense in the process. The Cowboy loss was the 6th straight playoff loss by Dallas dating back to the mid ’90 glory days in Big D. The thrilling game was marked with some classic Cowboy comedy. It started with TO talking pop corn thrash over the week that ended with him crying about his relationship with QB Tony Romo. You can't make this stuff up. No comments from Jessica Simpson yet.
The game was announced by Fox Network with ex Cowboy Troy Aikman doing the color commentary. Fox has always been more hype than substance and rarely gets to the facts and consistently misreports situations with little accuracy about current events. To say Troy Aikman is a homer, is an understatement. He loses all objectivity during Cowboy games never referencing the fact that Dallas only beat three playoff teams all season. Their overloaded Pro Bowl roster is mainly the result of fans stuffing the ballot for several good players who did not deserve trips to Hawaii in February. The fact that Dallas has not won a playoff game in 11 years was ignored by Fox. Thank God for radio broadcasts where objective reporting is still available.
The next step for the Giants will be a classic matchup vs the Packers, reminiscent of the early ’60 NFL title clashes that were won by Green Bay. The Packers also won an early ’07 season matchup with the Giants with a lopsided 35-13 win in week two.
The Giants’ fine rookie class once again assisted the win with key contributions from several first year players. The NY rookie class was GM Jerry Reese’s first draft class as chief executive and it has the makings of one of the best overall groups in the league from last spring. We will have a complete evaluation of all 32 NFL rookie classes in our NFL Team Report in March.
