Athletic, explosive senior completed an outstanding final season during his only year as a full-time starter. Earned first team Draft Insiders’ All-American and Big Ten honors for a well-rounded performance. Strong angular frame with sideline-to-sideline speed and the power to finish. Highly developed defender with the level to be a three down NFL starter early after playing both inside and outside. Top athlete with good strong frame and fine movement skills to play any position in the 4-3 set and inside in the 3-4. At the Mike position, he can be a playmaker with the ability to fill and beat lineman in matchups and finish. Performed well when asked to cover, blitz and play in space. Keen instincts with the physical skills to respond to reads, beat blocking angles and get to the ball. He can be a devastating and decisive wrap up tackler. When he arrives at the scene, there is seldom any yards after contact by runners. Shows a strong hand punch with the ability to lock out and keep blockers off his body. Displays the ability to jolt runners and very strong when taking on blocks at the point of attack. Able to strike blockers, stack, shed and engage the runner going thru the hole. Displays fine use of leverage and keeps his feet moving. Agile and fast to stay with backs and tight ends in pass coverage. Opens his hips easily to change directions with the burst to matchup in patterns. Improved as pass rusher in 2021 when used in that capacity. Effective as a blitzer, inside or outside and times his move well to finds soft spots in protection. Also has ability as an edge rusher and can line up there in the sub packages, though better suited for inside. Usually diagnoses plays well and takes sound angles in pursuit and has learned to use his aggressiveness well. Very good range, speed and athleticism and uses fine hand technique when scraping laterally. Good body flex helps him with tight pursuit angles. Unlocks hips with the acceleration to close. Rare COD and playing speed for his size with the smooth hips to turn and run-in coverage. Interesting NFL matchup potential with tight ends in the sub packages where his good length, awareness and speed can be very effective. Excels in space where his instincts and movement skills allow him to consistently be in the play. Showed burst as a pass rusher over his final two seasons and has real upside in that role as a pro. Good timing and adept at blitzes, stunts and twists. In 2021, he started 11 games and tallied 114 tackles, 17.5 TFL, 8 sacks, 2 FF, 5 QB hurries, no interceptions or PBU. Earned 1st team Big Ten honors. Over his three-year career, he played in 29 games and tallied 180 tackles, 25.5 TFL, 12 sacks, 3 FF, 1 FR, 1 interception and 14 QB hurries.  At the NFL Combine, he came in at just under 6’3”, 250 lbs. with 31” arms and 9 ¾” hands. Ran a 4.53 time but did not lift. Added a 40.5” VL and 10’8” BJ. At his pro day at Wisconsin, he 34 reps with a 3.94 short shuttle and 6.84 three cone. It completed an amazing postseason which elevated his stock significantly. Athlete with similar skill set and versatility of HOF Mike man Brian Urlacher and capable of filling any backer role in a front. Versatile backer and three down player for all packages. Talent to improve further with his best football in front of him. Displays a great deal of self-confidence with a competitive edge that transcends to the field and teammates. Clubs like the Patriots, Dolphins, Giants and Browns interested in late first/early 2nd round. Emerging impact and big play potential and just touching the surface as a blitz defender. Type to be every down defender early. Fast rising top 40 playmaker and probable surprise 1st round selection. Core starter for a defense and diverse three down defender.
